With the Lenoir County Center for Cooperative Extension as a community partner, the Kinston Youth Enrichment Project includes the implementation of the Promises 4-H Club and the 4-H All Stars character education program.
- The Promises 4-H Club is an organization for young people who will enjoy “learning by doing.” They can gain valuable life skills such as responsibility, leadership, self-esteem, critical thinking, communication skills and good citizenship – and have a good time doing it.
- 4-H All Stars is a character-based prevention approach to addressing high-risk behaviors such as substance use, violence, and premature sexual activity in school-aged youth. The program is based on identifying the critical factors that lead young people to begin experimenting with substances and engaging in other high-risk behaviors. The program is designed to reinforce positive qualities in youth.
