Young Women of Promise has been selected to be a Youth Service America Lead Agency for the 2010 Global Youth Service Day which will be held April 23-25, 2010.   Theresa Williams and Larry Burney, Jr. recently attended  the annual Youth Service Institute in Washington, DC in October. 

Young Women of Service has also been selected to serve as a Semester of Service Lead Agency by Youth Service America. The project   begins on the 2010 Martin Luther King. Jr. holiday and continues through Global Youth Service Day.

Xavier Woods and Brittany Heath have been selected to serve as 2010 Global Youth Service Day Co-Chairpersons.


Congratulations to Tyeshaun Graham who served as a Kinston YEP afterschool program assistant last year.  Tyeshaun, a KHS Class of 2009 graduate,  is now a freshman at North Carolina State University.

The Kinston Youth Enrichment Project served as a sponsor of the Kinston National Night Out community event on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at the Kinston High School Performing Arts Center. The event was sponsored by Lenoir County Crime Stoppers. The evening  featured a showcase of local talent and informational booths and exhibits for local agencies.  Please visit www.kinstonevents.com for more information.

Congratulations to Mr. Donald Moye, a senior participant in the Kinston Youth Enrichment Project's Intergenerational Art and Photography Program.  Donald Moye was recognized as a National Finalist in the Generations United Annual Photography Contest sponsored by Metlife.

Congratulations to Kinston YEP Program Director Theresa Williams, who was selected to be a guest columnist in the Kinston Free Press. Her column, "Afterschool Programming is Important to Youth Success" was published on June 11, 2009.
